Welcome to my personal blog! This is where I share my thoughts and ideas on a variety of topics that interest me.
I consider myself a lifelong learner. I enjoy exploring different subjects and deepening my understanding of things that catch my attention. This blog is a place where I document what I’m learning and thinking about. I’ve organized posts into categories, so feel free to browse through categories to find topics that interest you.
Software Engineering
I’m a Staff Software Engineer with over 13 years of experience in designing and building scalable, reliable cloud-based applications.
My expertise covers a range of technologies, including Java, Kotlin, Microservices, RabbitMQ, Redis, Honeycomb, Docker, Kubernetes, Pact contract testing, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and telemetry. I’ve worked across the entire software lifecycle, from design and development to maintaining robust systems in production.
I write about my experiences, technical topics I’m familiar with, and new things I’m exploring. You can find all my posts in the Software Engineering category.
Learning from Books
Reading non-fiction is one of my favorite ways to learn. I’ve read over 90 books, and a few years ago, I started writing about what I learned to document key takeaways and make it easier to review concepts later.
So far, I’ve published more than 30 book reviews covering a wide range of topics. There’s something for everyone — check them out in the Learnings from Books category.
Travel & Adventures
My wife and I love exploring the outdoors and traveling. I enjoy hiking and taking in the natural beauty around us. I try to document some of our trips and adventures in the Travel & Adventures category.
Personal Development
I love working on self-improvement — that’s why I read so many books and listen to so many podcasts. I write about personal growth, productivity, health, and other ways I try to better myself in the Personal Development category.
Finance & Investing
I’ve been tracking my expenses since I was 18, and in 2015, I started investing in stocks. I began in the Brazilian market and later expanded to US stocks in 2018. By 2021, I had fully transitioned my portfolio to the US market, and in 2022, I moved entirely to index investing.
I don’t write much about stocks these days, but I do occasionally share thoughts on personal finance and other money-related topics in the Finance category.
Hobbies & Interests
I also write about personal development, lifestyle, and various other interests. You can find all those posts in the Hobbies & Interests category.
Why keep a blog?
In a time when AI-generated content and short-form social media dominate, maintaining a personal blog might seem counterintuitive. And in some ways, it is. While I hope my writing is useful to readers, this blog is mainly for me.
Writing helps me organize my thoughts and test my understanding of a topic. It’s only when we try to put something into words that we realize where the gaps in our knowledge are. Plus, improving my writing takes practice, and this blog gives me a space to do that. I’m not aiming for perfection—I just keep writing.
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read my blog!
Cheers.
